Hence, I had to spend overnight as a bedspacer in a low-cost but clean Pilar Home-Hostel - only to leave Pilar at 3:00am for the Jeepney ride back to Daraga for the a/c Bus ride to Calbiga, Samar. I was told that the Butanding "Jump-off Point" is about 1.5 kms away from the Donsol Town proper - reachable only by a Tricycle Hire costing P50/trip. AAHHHH! I wanted to do that when I was there! When i was island hopping almost all of March, I had a choice of going to Boracay or the Bicol Peninsula from Bacolod. I chose the former. It was an awesome experience to swim with the whale sharks. But I quickly realized there are too many tourists going there. Butandings don’t love humans. Too much interaction with the whale sharks gives them stress and in the end they will go away.
