Portugal: ICOMOS International Cultural Tourism Committee meets in Douro Valley, Portugal

If you've noticed, updates have been quite scarce. That's because I'm currently in Europe and I'm using all the time I have to explore. Plus Internet access is not easy to come by. Anyway, I represent the Philippines in the ICOMOS International Cultural Tourism Committee (ICTC). And every year, the committee meets, usually in a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The ICOMOS ICTC 2010 Annual Meeting was in Lamego in the Douro Valley, Portugal. It also coincided with the International Conference on World Heritage Status: Opportunities for Economic Gain for Tourism Destinations – The Case of the Douro Valley which we also got to attend last June 17.

I'll tell you more about the trip in the coming days. The good news is, the 2012 Annual Meeting of the ICOMOS ICTC will be in the Philippines! I'm very happy our colleagues voted to accept our invitation.

  1. Ivan,
I've become a big fan of your blog after listening to an interview you did on the Amateur Traveler podcast. That was a great interview. I recently took a trip to the Philippines back in late March/early April to visit the home of the love of my life. *smile* She's from Pangasinan. I fell in love with her province and the country of the Philippines. I'm from Los Angeles, California. I fell in love so much that I created two photography book featuring my images and thoughts about the Philippines. I've been getting great feedback on the books. Everyone saying I captured the filipino emotions and pride. Here's the link to the first book, http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/1373581?ce=blurb_ew&utm_source=widget

Anyway, excuse the long comment but I just wanted to say hello and say how much I enjoy your travels. I really cant wait to get back to the Philippines. I'm hoping that we'll be able to go back in December if we can get vacation time from work. The places I'd like to see on the next visit is Bohol, Palawan, and Vigan. This past trip we went to Boracay, which was fun but kind of crowded. Also went to Baguio but most of my fun was had in the various towns in Pangasinan.(San Fabian, San Carlos, Manaoag, Santa Barbara, Calasiao, Dagupan, etc.) Let me end here for now... Thanks again... Happy travels to you!
